Obituary for Rebecca Lou Halvorsen

Rebecca Lou Burgett Halvorsen " Becky" passed away at her home on April 13, 2019
Becky was born on December 7,1953 in Rawlins Wyoming to Bill and Bonnie Burgett. She grew up in Rangely Colorado and graduated from Rangely High School.

In 1974 she met and married Ray Meeks. Together they had 2 children Holly and Keith. They spent years hunting, camping, fishing and followed the oilfield wherever it took them, finally settling in Vernal. They later divorced.

Becky met and married Richard "Jim" Halvorsen and they made their home in East Carbon Utah. They spent his remaining years camping and fishing and spending time with his family. They made many friends in East Carbon and considered some as family.

Becky was a compassionate and generous person. She opened her home to anyone who needed a place to stay or needed a meal. Her home was always open to her kids friends and she enjoyed having them over. She had a one of a kind sense of humor and could find the humor in almost every situation. She loved to laugh until she cried. She enjoyed going to coffee with her friends. She made friends in all of the towns that she lived in. Becky loved to talk on the telephone. She was fascinated with true crime stories and enjoyed reading immensely.
Becky had many jobs over the years but none she enjoyed as much as dealing 21 in a casino for the short time she lived in Nevada. She played a card game she called wiz bang and few people could beat her at it.

You would often see her cruising around in one of her jeeps she loved so much.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jim, her parents, brother and sister -in-law Buck and Georgeann Burgett. Her sister, Sue Rouse, nephew Ryan Rouse and two unborn sons.
Becky is survived by her daughter Holly (Dominic) Firkins and son Keith Meeks of Vernal. Granddaughters Caitlin and Paige Firkins, Casey and Adywen Meeks. Grandsons Haiden and Jaisen Firkins.
